May to September is usually the time when most people get married as they prefer the warm weather. However, You & Your Wedding Magazine has revealed that more and more couples are tying the knot off-season. Couples are showing increasing flexibility and stay open to the idea of a white winter wedding instead of focussing only on a garden party. Nevertheless, Ecclesiastical points out that January and February see very few weddings. Are weddings taking place in exotic locations abroad then?
Warmer climates
It might be the case that those who do want to get married at this time of the year can afford to go
abroad for exotic or beach weddings. Tropical countries, in particular Mauritius and Maldives, remain top favourite destinations for those looking for a wedding on the beach. It also helps that when it is winter here, it’s the peak of summer in the southern hemisphere and a beach wedding just seems natural.
Beach weddings
Sometimes, depending on the location of the wedding, the event can be drastically dressed down. A beach wedding is ideal for those seeking that opportunity to get rid of thick suits, long dark trousers and stuffy ties. If you are planning or organising your wedding, you can make it much more enjoyable by adapting your outfit with the local climate. For beach weddings, forget traditional gear and think summer. This means a profusion of bright colours, bold patterns and light fabrics.
Dressing for the weather
Pure cotton shirts are an excellent choice to wear in warm weather. Not only that but pure cotton looks luxurious and will be just right for a memorable wedding party. White shirts are also perfect for those tropical destinations. White reflect sunlight and heat and with all that sand and water on the beach also reflecting sunlight, you don’t want to be dressed in black and be absorbing all this heat bouncing about.
Brighten up with patterns
For those who find plain white shirts somewhat boring for a summer wedding, add some colours in the form of checks pattern or stripes. Those more daring may go for the Hawaiian shirt, usually made up of bright floral design. If you’re lucky enough to be getting married in Hawaii, then it’s all natural that you wear one. If that is a little over the top, you can tone it down by choosing abstract or geometric patterns and lighten up on the bright colours.
The important thing to remember throughout is that getting married abroad in an exotic setting means that you are breaking the mould from a traditional continental wedding. So do it right and break away completely from the traditional wedding attire and really embrace your out-of-the-way wedding celebrations. It will be that much more memorable to you years later.
