Time to reduce this belly

The British Heart Foundation reports that half of adults in a survey failed to get enough exercise on a daily basis. Men’s shirts can do wonders to hide your paunch but there is a limit. After that, you will have work hard to get rid of this beer belly. If you want to look good in that shirt, there is no shortcut: you will have to exercise. Here are 5 tips to help you do that.

Target the right muscles

You need to work what we call the t-shirt muscles: the arms, shoulders and chest. Abs, even if you have a tight six pack, won’t show under a shirt, so as long as your stomach is flat, your job is done there.

Weights

While running and other cardio exercises, even sports such as football and squash, will burn calories and help you lose your paunch, they won’t fill out your sculpt your t-shirt muscles. For that, you will have to work the muscles directly. Try press-ups, a tried and tested method to develop the shoulders, triceps and of course the pectorals. If you’re bored with that, why not try an advanced technique? Lie on a swiss ball and perform a few sets of dumbbell presses. You will not only have to work your pecs the usual way to push the weights and balance the dumbbells but you will also have to balance your own body on the swiss ball.

Arms

Dumbbells are the way to go for a quick workout. You can have your own set of dumbbells at home and if you’re obsessed enough, in the office. Dumbells allow you to work each arm independently and your muscles have to balance them as well. Try dumbbells curls for your biceps. For some definitions, add the concentration curl. Use it to work your triceps too with the overhead extension.

 Whole body
